Usage:
Making your own beer is straightforward, but cleanliness and accurate measurements are crucial.
Required Equipment:
- Cooper's concentrate (with attached beer yeast)
- 1 kg of sugar or enhancer
- Optional: malt extract or enhancer
- Water
- Sugar measuring cup
- Glass demijohn or 30 L fermentation container
- Fermentation airlock
- Measuring spoon
- Crown caps
- Bottles for storing beer or plastic bottles.
Next, follow these steps to prepare the beer:
- Place the closed can in hot water for about 10 minutes to liquefy the contents.
- In a 5L vessel, combine 1 kg of sugar (or substitute) with 2L of boiling water and stir until dissolved.
- Add the contents of the can and mix well.
- The final temperature should be around 21-22°C. If so, add the yeast (note that temperatures above 30°C will kill the yeast, while fermentation won’t start below 18°C).
- After adding the yeast, mix everything, seal the vessel, and insert the fermentation airlock.
- Fermentation should occur between 18 and 24°C (advanced brewers can ferment from 15-20°C).
- Allow for 7 days of fermentation to complete.
