Active Coconut Carbon 1 kg by BROWIN (Model Code: 405109) is designed for purification and correction of taste and odour for drinking water and spirits. The grain size ranges from 0.55 to 2.4 mm, and its adsorption activity is over 60%, making it an essential component in distillation processes.
The active coconut carbon is produced from specially selected and steam-treated coconut shells, allowing it to neutralise and harmonise the taste and odour of your distillates. With a high iodine value (>900 mg/g) and a significant pore volume, this carbon provides an excellent adsorption capacity for impurities affecting liquid quality. Tests have shown that using active coconut carbon leads to superior results compared to stone carbon. Filtration is efficient, with a smooth flow and a consistently mild aroma in the final product.
Key Features:
• Net Weight: 1 kg
• Grain Size: 0.55 - 2.4 mm
• Iodine Value: >900 mg/g
• Ash Content: <3%</p>
• Effective for 60 L of Distillate
• Results in Mild Flavour without Yeasty Aroma
Directions for Use:
Position the carbon on a strainer and pour hot water over it. Rinse thoroughly under running cold water (approximately 20°C) for about 3 minutes, flipping the carbon until the outflow water is clear. Then allow it to drain. The carbon will be ready for use. The working principle is similar to standard water filters, requiring that 1 L of fluid passes through the carbon bed for at least an hour to ensure effective adsorption. Alternatively, the carbon can be enclosed in a nylon mesh and submerged directly in the container for a minimum of 6 hours, stirring regularly. Note that the adsorption efficiency is temperature-dependent, with optimal conditions around 10°C.
