Understanding pH, moisture, and light levels greatly affects the healthy growth and appearance of your plants, as well as the quality and yield of your crops. To elevate your vegetable, fruit, and flower cultivation, you need this indispensable tool – the 3-in-1 soil tester from BIOOGROD. This device is user-friendly, battery-free, and provides direct scale readings.

How to take a measurement:

  1. Prepare a soil sample (300-400 g) by removing stones, grass, roots, and leaves.
  2. Place the soil into a 0.5 L jar and add water to moisten it.
  3. Clean the meter tip with a rough paper or brush, then insert the probe into the prepared soil sample.
  4. After 60 seconds, read the values on the device scale.

Knowing the soil's pH level significantly aids in planning and maintaining optimal conditions for your plants. Most garden plants thrive in soil with slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0-7.0).

This pH range is conducive to the growth of beneficial microorganisms and makes essential minerals more accessible to plant roots. Highly acidic soil, on the other hand, can harm beneficial bacteria and foster fungal growth, leading to the formation of water-insoluble compounds.

Soil acidity classes:

  • Very acidic soil - pH up to 4.5
  • Acidic soil - pH 4.5 - 5.0
  • Slightly acidic soil - pH 5.6 - 6.0
  • Neutral soil - pH 6.6 - 7.0
  • Alkaline soil - pH above 7.2

To adjust soil pH, adding sulfur lowers it, while lime raises it. The amount needed varies depending on soil type, so consult a gardening manual for guidance.

Lighter soils with less humus require lower doses of sulfur (or lime), whereas more fertile soils with abundant humus may need higher amounts.

Proper soil pH can be maintained through appropriate fertilization.
